Our text is Complex Variables and Applications, 6th edition by James W.Brown & Ruel V. Churchill. We will cover most of chapters 1 through 9, as well as some topics of my own choosing. Class attendance is required; non-attendance will significantly affect your course grade. More significantly, it will adversely affect what you learn --and you'll miss my sterling lectures! Students will need to be able to competently read and send email. Exams: There will be two timed exams (possibly scheduled in evenings) as well as a final exam, on Monday 26Apr1999 in our classroom. The three exams will have approximately equal weight. In addition there will be occasional "pop" quizzes (but not every week). Letting Q be the number of quizzes that we have, I will drop the lowest quiz, or the lowest 2 quiz scores, if 5<=Q<10 or 10<=Q, respectively. Class Dates: The last day of class is Wedn21Apr1999. Class is *cancelled* for the day after Spring Break, Monday 15Mar, and I will schedule at least one extra class. ================================================================
